A SUPPER FOR TWO – MARCH 15, 2021

 

On her fifth wedding anniversary,

planning on warming up their marriage,

the little wife looked back on the time

not long ago, when they were sweethearts...

 

She prepared a fine dinner, full of hope,

set wine on the table, and a slow bath

she also took, immerse in fine feelings,

and waited for her love all made up...

 

what she meant was a romantic dinner,

by candlelight... She chose a special song

as a surprise, a rather charming sound.

 

But her husband never heard the canticle,

with the lack of light, ‘Oh no, you forgot,

once again, to pay our power bill...?’

 

HERE YOU GO MY ORIGINAL POEM

WRITTEN IN PORTUGUESE,

 

CEIA PARA DOIS I –08 JUL 09

 

Ao completar cinco anos de casada,

querendo reavivar o casamento,

a esposinha lembrou-se, num momento,

daquele tempo em que era namorada...

 

Preparou um jantar, esperançada:

na mesa ela pôs vinho; um banho lento

ela tomou, com grande sentimento

e esperou seu amor toda enfeitada...

 

Ela queria era um jantar romântico,

à luz de velas...  A música escolheu,

como surpresa, ao som que mais seduz...

 

Mas o marido perguntou, ouvindo o cântico

e as luzes apagadas: "Ah não, você esqueceu,

mais outra vez, de pagar a nossa luz...?"
