I want to see you.  Therefore, avoid no longer

The necessary tryst -- kindly sacrifice

Whatever it is -- dispel any device

Your womanly heart made up, this hunger

 

To pretend unborn... Show your soul

Is much closer to mine than you've pledged;

You are my half indeed -- we've been dredged

Along the hundreds of years to this goal.

 

The two of us are but two slices of a jewel,

Unclasped by time --- and sent to gyrate

Like dice on the centuries, by chance only to meet.

 

Acknowledge it then, grudge our love no fuel,
